To Start
Going into this movie, I knew I was in for a long one. Watchmen was over two and a half hours long, full of blood, gore, sex, and violence... And I loved EVERY minute of it. Aside from all of those things, the plot was very well thought out. It was obvious the amount of time it took to make this movie, both in writing and filming.
The Characters
Something that Watchmen did successfully, which a lot of other films really don't pull off, was have more than one main character. It jumped from one character's perspective to another. All of the character's in the film were very developed. Right from the beginning it gave you somewhat of a back-story of most of the characters. It made them memorable in their own ways. After twenty minutes in, when they were all put in a room together, I already noticed and felt familiar with all of them, and wanted to know more! Each character had certain traits. Dr. Manhatten was a big blue man, Laurie Jupiter was the female in a very slim outfit, The Comedian was what I'd call "the army guy", Ozymandias is the world's smartest man, Rorschach is the angry man in the trench coat. The thing I liked about all of these characters is that it explained the back-story of every single one throughout the entire film. There really wasn't a whole lot to dislike here.
Interaction
Watchmen takes place in the mid 1980's. It basically mirrors history ,expect for the fact that super heroes are around. This changes some things that happened in actual history. For example, we won Vietnam almost instantly. Nixon is president, and we are at war with Russia. The world fears a nuclear holocaust. The only thing standing between them is a godlike person ( Dr. Manhattan ). He the only hero in the movie that actually has powers. The watchmen were broken up when Nixon ordered a law for no more heroes a few years back. When the comedian dies, one of the watchmen, they are brought back together to get to the bottom of it. All of the characters interacted very well with each-other. I believed their back round. I really believed the loved interest with Jupiter and Manhattan. A lot of chemistry there. Like I said there was obviously a lot of character work done here, which really just made the movie work in general. The conflict of the nuclear holocaust is solved, which sort of explains everything else.
"The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll whisper "no." This was sort of the tag line for the film. I think it pretty much sums up the mood and feeling of it.
Other Things
The setting is what I believe to be New York City. I absolutely loved the soundtrack. It included Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, My Chemical Romance, and many more! The costumes are very effective. The superhero costumes were unique, but also stuck to the classic superhero capes for some of the characters. For props, I think the visual effects could substitute for that. There was a lot of really cool looking things, and that sort of distracted me from the props.
OVERALL
Watchmen was a great movie! I'm glad I picked it for my first movie review. I highly recommend it. It's worth it!
I give Watchmen
5/5 Kit Kat Bars

Hey wats up Eric.....This is a movie that i've been meaning to see for a while, but jus never got around to it. From how u described the plot and story line of the movie it seems very entertaining event though it is lengthy... I agree on what you said about the multiple main characters, most movies that have multiple main characters become confusing and jumbled together and you get lost...I believed this movie to be just your average super hero movie with the average plot, but after reading your blog i was proven wrong.. And now i wana see it even MOOORE!
its actually not really your average super hero movie the plot is kinda twisted it was good but the story was a little vague i guess you could say how it was jumping back and forth some scenes didnt make sense. I think the movie would be way better if there were more action pack scenes in the movie and they acted more like superheroes. The only one who acts like a superhero is Rorschach because he was the only one really doing anything and was mysterious and kept his identity like a real superhero. Didnt really like the love story in it especially since Ms jupiter and Dr. Manhatten seem a little unrealistic, but hey this is just my opinion, im just saying it wasn't what I thought it would be.
I have read this book never seen the movie. just don't have the patients for it.
